About the role:

Materials Testing Analytical Consultants are responsible for undertaking British Standard (BS)6930 laboratory testing to WRAS and DWI regulations.

The data generated is used to obtain WRAS and DWI approval on their non-metallic materials and fittings in contact with drinking water used within the UK.

You will be part of a unique and valuable team of 4 staff who provide and deliver a high-quality testing service to manufacturers and suppliers of materials used in water supply/distribution and building installations.

Working as part of a team, you will be responsible for actioning the requirements of WRAS, DWI and UKAS and ensuring that the analytical testing service is delivered to time, cost and quality standards whilst achieving excellent customer service.

You will continuously optimise and improve the service delivered and adhere to health and safety standards.

Working on the end to end process, key areas of accountability will include:

  • Handling customer enquiries and issues as they arise relating to the testing of their products
  • Producing customer quotations and invoices
  • Preparation of samples prior to analytical testing
  • Compiling of final reports upon completion of results
  • Sample extract preparation and analysis to defined techniques
  • Completion and collation of test results
  • Monitoring and recording of all temperature critical processes, calibration and maintenance of equipment
  • Maintain and monitor method performance via AQC, system suitability and trend analysis identifying and proactively addressing issues for assigned analysis
  • Adhere and perform to the required H&S and quality standards
  • Occasional weekend and bank holiday working hours will also be required

To be successful, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • A-levels science and/or previous relevant laboratory work experience
  • An understanding of laboratory quality control, regulation & audit is essential
  • Good working knowledge of analytical techniques
  • Team worker that follows procedures and can work correctly and diligently
  • Previous experience in coaching, mentoring or supervising, providing ‘on-the-job’ training is preferred
  • Ability to work under pressure and capable of changing direction and increasing skills base
  • Organised and possess the ability to work and adhere to strict timelines
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work to and follow strict instructions/guidelines and thrive on delivering exceptional results
  • Comfortable in putting your ideas forward and working closely with Team Leader to raise any issues
  • You’ll have customer at the heart of everything you do and will value being part of a team to deliver excellent customer service
