About the role:
The role reports into one of two Thames Water Programme Manager’s, who are responsible for ensuring that Thames Water delivers its performance needs at the correct value and risk; whilst ensuring we deliver the right output for our customers for our Wholesale Wastewater business.
The PMO Analyst is pivotal in delivering reporting and reviews of information regarding the investment programme.
Support production of timely and comprehensive annual capital budgets and quarterly re-forecasts. Review of investment papers to support capital governance process. Provides insight and analysis to support decision making in line with corporate objectives. Working closely with delivery teams and Asset Management.

Key Accountabilities:
- Understand asset performance for Wastewater.
- Build strong relationships with segment focused colleagues in Capex delivery teams.
- Understand deliverer financial performance and benefits being realised at a sub-programme level and support portfolio manager and programme manager through annual business planning cycle, budgets & forecasts, and in identifying tactical options to balance service/segment portfolio in line with corporate objectives.
- Review Investment papers to ensure information is accurately captured around business case, funding source and key outcomes.
- Work with delivery partners to ensure benefits and outcomes are captured and accurately reported.
- Review and amend targets at quarterly re-forecasts and ensure compliance with control testing at Annual Return.
- Support the process of programme change, working closely with the delivery partners to ensure transfers within and between deliverers is up to date and accurate.
- Any contractual change is administered promptly following transfers.
- Understand and contribute towards business forecasts of regulatory financial and reputational performance commitments outlined in the plan agreed with the regulator.
- Ensure issues are highlighted & understood.
- Ensure that projects progressing through the gated process (including IC and TWULIC) are consistent with the forward service/segment plan.
- Support programme manager at the budget and quarterly re-forecast process to re-evaluate investment priorities and mitigate risks etc.
- Contribute to team improvement initiatives, work with colleagues to share and agree best practice and promote communication and engagement across portfolio teams and the wider business.
- Ensure base processes will effectively support the financial elements of regulatory reporting, and support Finance in delivery of regulatory reporting tables & analysis relating to the service/segment of the overall capital portfolio.
- Occasional travel to Thames Water sites as necessary for the role.
To be successful, you will have the following skills and experience:
- Graduate or equivalent who possess the relevant technical degree and/or membership of a professional body, or considerable relevant experience.
- Strong portfolio management skills.
- Numerate, commercially astute, and ability to handle large volumes of data efficiently.
- Ability to understand operational processes in order to influence appropriate investment recommendations.
- Ability to form strong relationships and work effectively across different business areas is required.
- Strong level of influencing and negotiating skills are desirable.
- Ability to interact and share ideas in a small team, whilst sharing opportunities to improve the business as usual deliverables across the wider team.
- Ability to apply and work within a corporate governance framework, providing appropriate advice to the business.
- Advanced MS Office skills.
- Experience of manipulating datasets and working with databases.
- Reporting expertise through Power BI is desirable.
