About the role:

We are seeking a motivated people and process manager to lead and develop a team of multi-skilled Site Technicians. You will drive their personal performance and improve overall engagement, whilst managing in line with established HR policies and processes. Increasing asset availability and performance within strict quality targets is key to the success of this role and will be achieved with a strong health and safety focus.

Day to day activities will include managing a budget of up to £2m, ensuring planned and reactive maintenance is carried out in a timely and efficient manner, and that processes are optimised to protect the environment and maximise the production of green energy by working closely with the Sludge Treatment Centre team.

 Key Accountabilities:

  • Health and safety – you will effectively lead the health and safety culture of the team as well as auditing health and safety systems and processes.
  • Performance management – you will be responsible for ensuring the team achieve optimal performance in terms of work management and you will be responsible for developing the team’s process knowledge and introducing new skills and health and safety awareness.
  • Process management – ensuring the STW achieves and maintains its required plant availability and reliability in order to meet quality targets at the agreed cost. This will include the management of statutory inspections.
  • Financial management – owning and managing the budgetary and financial activities of the team and driving efficiencies into the overall operational budget.
  • Customer & stakeholder management - ensuring exceptional service to our customers with early personal interventions as required.

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience: 

  • Do you have previous experience managing operational staff?
  • Are you focused on continuous improvement?
  • We are seeking an experienced people-manager with a proven track record of engaging & developing their team; ideally with field-based members.
  • You will be used to taking the lead and achieving results in a difficult environment with a strong focus on, and good working knowledge of, health and safety.
  • You will have experience managing an operational budget with a structured and proactive approach.
  • Your technical knowledge and experience of the process plant will be underpinned by a background in wastewater treatment or a similar industry.
  • You will need to be a good communicator and be competent in using IT equipment/systems and be able to interpret complex Excel spreadsheets.
  • Qualifications should include an engineering HNC/HND or equivalent.
  • Due to the nature of this role a full valid driving licence is needed.
