About the role:

The role is part of a dynamic, fast-paced team focused on ensuring Thames Water protects our clean water network from illegal standpipe connections. You will be working with the Illegal Connections Manager investigating instances of illegal standpipe use on our clean water network and applying the relevant enforcement legislation.

Many of our customers obtain an authorized standpipe from our supplier and connect to our network safely and legally ensuring that all usage is accounted for, this role targets those who do not obtain an authorized standpipe and comprises of fieldwork, education and engagement to ensure compliance through a number of methods and ultimately with our legal partners pursue to prosecution.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Targeting areas are known for illegal standpipe use.
  • Engaging with offenders to educate and ensure compliance.
  • Gather evidence ensuring CPIA, PACE, and Water Industry Act governance.
  • Customer and stakeholder liaison.
  • Reporting, good inter-personal skills and ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Delivering educational presentations both internally and externally.
  • Flexible approach to working hours when required and willingness to travel where necessary within the Thames Water region.

To be successful, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Preferably background in enforcement.
  • Evidence gathering and court file preparation.
  • Water Industry knowledge would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Excellent reporting and management of workloads.
  • Good IT / MS Office.
  • Ability to self-manage workload and time management along with being self-motivated.
  • Confident in delivering presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
