About the role:

As the Capacity Planning Manager, you will be responsible for providing the business with a first-class service for capacity, resource planning and insight. Your aim will be to lead your team to enable a fully efficient field and office resource that will maintain customer service excellence, and adherence to regulatory outcomes.

You will lead the capacity planning team in working with and providing recommendations for action to teams across Networks. You will need to be a self-starter and be confident in your approach to stakeholders of all levels to support them and influence direction in line with our strategic ambitions.

Your team will be responsible for defining and creating a networks capacity plan, embedding this within the business and ensuring its validity.

Analytics – forecasting and proactive capacity insight – will be basis for the plan and you will also effectively manage the ad-hoc workload of requests. You will also collaborate with modellers, GIS analysts and data & insight teams to deliver innovative outputs and analysis that will help promote productivity and efficiency within the business.

This role requires a candidate who has a high level of experience within the capacity and/or planning arena, with previous experience of team leadership, business engagement and change.

 

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Implementing a structured way of working within the team and across a group of key stakeholders
  • Transitioning the capacity planning team to become a central hub / centre of excellence
  • Shaping and driving business decision making and strategy, directly influencing any changes required within our business to achieve this
  • Leading and communicating the forecasting and capacity planning model at seasonal and short-term scales
  • Effectively engaging with field and office teams to ensure data is accurate and timely, and to ensure that the capacity planning model is being adhered to in order to drive operational excellence and achieve key business targets
  • Accountability for forecast accuracy and data integrity across this centralised service
  • Leading, developing and supporting a team of analysts including performance management, direction and career progression

 

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have worked in a similar role - focusing on business improvements led by data and be familiar with capacity planning levers and metrics.

A degree or equivalent within an analytical field would be an advantage but not essential (e.g. Science, Maths, Geographical disciplines).

Experience in an operational planning and scheduling background would be considered highly advantageous, giving a close understanding of the challenges your stakeholders may be faced with.

You will have a wealth of analytical experience, making recommendations using data and managing and developing teams with strong analytical capability. You will be resilient in your approach and must be able to build credibility quickly.

Strong leadership and team management skills are essential to lead a high performing area of the business. Presentation skills are key, and you will be a high achiever and have gained experience leading and managing an analytically minded team.
