About the role:

We are seeking a candidate who is technically strong and well experienced within Water Production to act as a WaterProject Engineer focused on a range of water treatment works, pumping stations and service reservoirs in North London. They will be responsible for the appraisal and investigation of existing plant design and engaging specialist skills to determine optimum engineering solutions for plant modernisation/refurbishment works. Management and delivery of these works in a safe and efficient manner to programme and budget

The base location for the role will be Thames Gateway WTW. Responsibilities will include this site, in addition to all transmission assets in North London (Pumping Stations, Booster Stations and Service Reservoirs) and the following WTWs: Chingford, Wanstead, Waltham Abby, Hornsey, East Ham

Main Accountabilities

  • To carry out engineering appraisals of asset condition, function and failure. Prepare appropriately detailed scope and requirements document.
  • Develop operating strategies for water treatment works, including ramp up, ramp down and mothballing in the most efficient way
  • To investigate site failures with the aim of reducing repeat trips and shut downProviding engineering solutions for plant modernisation / refurbishment works, providing input to optimise plant operability, maintainability and energy efficiency.
  • Managing the procurement process for bought in services, materials and labour, working closely with framework suppliers and approved sub-contractors.
  • Leading and managing multi-disciplined site-based teams combining both direct and in-direct labour. Site based co-ordination of multi-disciplined installation/refurbishment works. Comply with Health & Safety Legislation / Thames Water Safety Regulations

Skills, qualifications, experience

  • Must have proven working experience in industrial or construction engineering environment.
  • BTEC or HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, under own initiative to deliver specified outputs.
  • Must be an effective communicator with numerate ability and willingness to train & develop personal skill base.
  • Detailed knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues with reference to construction works including CDM.
  • Fully competent at using the appropriate Company IT systems
