About the role:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Process Technician. You will be Responsible for the day-to-day operation of Thames Water operational site, working as part of a team of Process Technicians, to ensure the effective and continuous operation of the site.

You will be responsible for a range of activities including the operation of the plant, routine checks, front line maintenance and problem-solving to ensure services are maintained within a network of operations. In addition to this, you will be responsible for all activities carried out at site including those delivered by contractors.

This role will be based at Chingford you will be expected to work on five other sites.

Key Accountabilities

  • Control the day-to-day operation of the site processes.
  • Operate the site within a Network to a regulatory standard and to ensure the correct operation of the treatment process, network and or reservoir.
  • Process Monitoring by visual inspection and bench tests, flow and process readings and monitoring of other sites within the network. (Completion of log sheets/Site Round Sheets to regulatory auditable standards).
  • Process fault finding and suitable rectification by the first fix, raising issues to maintenance or team leader as required. Monitor stock levels, manage requests and take deliveries as required.
  • Responsibility for H&S and security of the site and may be appointed to issue TWOSAs, permits and release plant as required.
  • May be required to liaise with external stakeholders e.g. Environmental agency or DWI.
  • May be required to support or deputising for the team manager, as well as providing coaching mentoring for team members.

 Qualifications, Experience and Skills required for this role will be the following

  • Basic literacy and numeracy required plus completion of NVQ level 2 units - as a minimum (or equivalent).
  • Technical C&G or HNC desirable and may have an additional qualification, either mechanical, electrical or ICA (hydraulic or process equivalents).
  • Knowledge and understanding of Water Treatment for public supply.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good computer skills required such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Lotus Notes.
  • Knowledge of upstream processes advantageous but full training provided.
  • Experience of interpreting and controlling systems (SCADA) would be an advantage.
  • Must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures including Confined Space Entry.
  • A full current driving licence is essential.
