About the role: 

Are you an accomplished Business Insights Manager who is ready to support our new and inspiring Water Networks Transformation team to set the direction for change?  This is a fantastic opportunity to fundamentally change how we operate and set ourselves up for future success. This role leads on creating and implementing a BI strategy and analytical plans for a large organisational transformation, defining and delivering KPI and data-driven lag and lead tiered insights from current to Target Operating Model, across financial, operational, customer and people landscapes, identifying performance and execution results.

The role provides options on how to lever big data, AI, robotics, machine learning as appropriate to drive financial and non-financial business performance. Engaging the various workstreams in the Water Networks Transformation team and with the Workload demand, capacity planning and insight team, the role holder ensures that as new solutions and processes are developed in all the different workstreams, that we have the right data and insight to ensure the transformation solutions are fit for purpose, that efficiency and productivity is maximised and that we are able to meet the outcomes required.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Works with team members to identify core business performance areas, and define meaningful metrics / KPIs to support these areas
  • To work closely with the business and create and test the hypothesis about what is happening in terms of business performance.
  • Able to extract data from key business systems and perform data preparation techniques in order to a) clean data b) reconcile and ensure the integrity of the data from multiple sources.
  • Able to design, build and maintain data models, consistently deriving high quality and actionable business insights from the analysis of complex data.
  • Able to create insightful reports and dashboards using interactive visual techniques
  • To own the analysis and insight of business data to ensure solutions and processes are developed to maximise efficiency and business performance.
  • To carry out route cause analysis and provide insight that will support decision making
  • To be a technical point of contact/expert across our operational data for the Transformation Programme
  • To identify, and resolve, issues in our data and work with Digital to resolve where required
  • To lead the exploration of data sets as required. If the required data does not exist, work with the business or Digital to create them if appropriate
  • Able to build, maintain and manage a strong network of internal stakeholders
  • To liaise with or attend meetings with key internal and external stakeholders, as required.
  • Expert at using analytical and influencing skills to present complex information and answer questions
  • Partners with the business to understand the context behind the data, ensuring the right data is being used at the right time to generate insights
  • Drafting of senior management ready options and proposal papers
  • Applies a customer-centric and open-minded approach to solving business and analytical problems using creative and innovative thinking process for design development and strategic planning
  • Support, coach and challenge programme stakeholders to achieve the best outcomes for the business.
  • To coach and develop the Insights analyst
  • To have a growth mindset and embrace relevant new technologies and analysis techniques

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience: 

  • Experience of working in management consultancy or a high-performance insights experience
  • Experience of working with a manufacturing, telco, utilities or logistics environment
  • Able to interpret data and develop dashboards for key performance metrics
  • Knowledge of GPDR and how it applies in data processing and storage
  • Proven ability to utilise governance forums to good effect; enabling desired outcomes
  • Evidence of bringing structure to unstructured environments
  • Highly numerate with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to understand complex ideas and data to generate insight and articulate key findings and recommendations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, tailored to the stakeholder audience
  • Desire to build relationships and work collaboratively across a diverse set of stakeholders to achieve a common goal
  • Prioritises effectively in a high-pressure, uncertain environment to deliver stable performance
  • Highly experienced in Excel and other data visualisation tools eg Power BI, SQL, Tableau
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline

Salary

Please note this is an 18 month, Fixed Term Contract (FTC)
