About the role:

 Project managing the three multi-disciplinary ‘Smarter Water Catchments’ initiatives, ensuring that project timelines and deliverables are adhered to, in order to satisfy the outcomes of the bespoke Performance Commitment (PC). This role will support in the development of innovative solutions in collaboration with key stakeholders and deliver the resulting projects to achieve the most effective business solution for Thames Water.

The purpose of this newly established PC is to incentivise the company to understand the extent of additional achievable benefits and efficiencies available from tackling multiple catchment management issues together. This will aim to improve the approach to catchment management across the industry, informing policy and resolving some of the most pressing environmental issues. Furthermore, the project will inform the wider Thames Water planning process in PR24 and will collect the necessary evidence to support wider role out of the programme to additional catchments in AMP8.

  • Support with the development of the most effective solutions to briefed projects across the catchment, with the aim of having three agreed 10-year action plans by the end of March 2021.
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables to ensure that the year-on-year actions in each Catchment Plan are delivered; regularly reporting to the Catchment Initiatives Programme Manager on progress.
  • Apply commercial acumen in managing contracts to deliver best value solutions which satisfy Thames Water’s ambitions for the project.
  • Track and have oversight of the programme budget, including tracking relevant 3rd party investment supporting environmental outcomes across the three catchments.
  • Prepare internal papers to secure budget release e.g. with the Investment Committee, and audit reports to the Regulatory Reporting and Assurance teams to satisfying the requirements of the PC.
  • Initiate and develop communication and good relationships with both internal and external stakeholders; providing stakeholder engagement support with the delivery of catchment actions as appropriate.
  • Ensure the necessary health & safety standards are adhered to across the whole portfolio of the programme.

 

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Graduate or equivalent preferred but would consider HNC or above in a relevant subject; membership of a professional body preferable.
  • A track record in project management, preferably with environmental projects, including experience in design and/or contract management.
  • Demonstrates motivation and drive; ability to deliver projects to meet both commercial and technical objectives.
  • Ability to analyse data and make decisions on partial information.
  • Good communication skills. Strong inter-personal skills.
  • Good project planning, estimating and financial forecasting skills.
  • Fully competent at using the appropriate Company IT systems and Office software; primarily to support with managing project timelines.
