About the role:

The successful Senior data analyst will support the delivery of management information (MI), insight and data analysis within the UK’s largest Water and Wastewater Company. Your skills will help to drive process improvements and inform operational business decision making.

The successful candidate will help shape the future of our use of data in the business to the benefit of our customers. Typical tasks in this role include building logic, development of reporting, automation of data processes (or rebuilding them to be more efficient), ad hoc analysis and insight, change management and working with tools such as SQL, Python for predictive modelling.

Due to the senior nature of this role, there is an expectation that the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in these using these tools and be able to lead projects across multiple different business areas.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Work with large data sets drawn from a wide variety of internal and external sources; including environmental data, survey feedback and operational data.
  • Design and manipulate databases, carry out data transformations and work with the business to improve our ways of working.
  • Provide proactive insights in order to improve business processes.
  • Track the benefits of transformation projects and data insights.
  • You will support the business and work with stakeholders closely to design, build and maintain a range of reports. You will identify insights and trends from data sets using statistical methods and modelling.
  • Be a key point of contact, collaborating with colleagues and engaging with stakeholders to further our objectives. You will influence and inform colleagues and senior leadership on operational decisions.
  • Provide guidance and support to other analysts not only in this team but also throughout the business.
  • You will lead transformational data projects across multiple business areas.
  • Maintain data quality and ensure data is secure and properly utilised in line with the GDPR.
  • A key expectation of this role is that the successful candidate will keen interest in the coaching and development of analysts within the team and a wider group

What we are looking for:

  • We are looking for a candidate to help drive enhanced business performance to the benefit of our customers through the use of data.
  • Candidates require experience with databases, data analysis and reporting. Postgraduate degrees are an advantage. Experience of applying your skills within a business environment is a benefit but not a requirement.
  • Knowledge and experience of SQL is a requirement.
  • Knowledge of some or all of the following software is an advantage: Python, SQL, or Business Objects. You must have advanced Excel capabilities.
  • We’re looking for a self-motivated individual with an analytical mindset and strong, proven analytical expertise.
  • We’re looking for a candidate who is comfortable and proactive in helping with the development of team members technical skills and drive best practise to allow the growth of the team
  • We’re looking for a candidate who is comfortable working quickly and under pressure to support our management teams.
  • You must be able to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
