About the role:

The Sewer Flooding Manager is responsible for the management of a specialist team of seven that process data associated with our performance commitments on both sewer flooding and sewer collapses. For flooding, this means the accurate classification as per the Ofwat guidance of flooding incidents by cause, location and ownership. For sewer collapses, this means the interrogation of dig down jobs to verify if a sewer has collapsed as per the Ofwat guidance.

The Sewer Flooding Manager acts as a single point of contact on sewer flooding and collapses and therefore stakeholder engagement is fundamental to the position. The role will work collaboratively with Strategy and Regulation, Asset Management and Operations amongst others.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensuring that the sewer flooding process is working and fit for purpose.
  • Ensuring that all parties understand their role in the sewer flooding process.
  • Responsible the correct characterisation of flooding incidents against regulatory reporting guidelines.
  • Provide governance and oversight to ensure data standards are met.
  • Ensuring the quality of reporting is to the standard required internally and by OFWAT.
  • Giving feedback to Regional Performance managers and key stakeholders of KPIs related to the flooding process.
  • Ensuring that operational quality and rigor is maintained throughout the investigation and resolution process.
  • Cross-functional engagement to ensure best practice and sharing.

  • Understanding of waste networks operations desirable
  • Highly logical with good decision-making skills
  • Able to prioritize work and competing demands
  • Experience of performance management and continuous improvement
  • Ability to build clear, logical business cases
  • Good people management and leadership skills
  • Stakeholder management capabilities
  • UK driver’s license
  • Competency in Sharepoint, Excel, and PowerBI desirable

The Sewer Flooding Manager is responsible for data quality compliance within the Sewer Flooding front end processes along with compliance with regulatory and audit requirements giving this role a unique view of field operations, performance management and regulation.
