About the role:

This is a great opportunity to join a newly created team to get a unique and varied experience of liaising with a range of key stakeholders, providing insight and intelligence to deliver on improvements and efficiencies across the System Operations team.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Understand the regulatory and operational requirements of the System Operations team.
  • Analyse and review existing processes and procedures to ensure wider System Operations team are enabled to deliver on regulatory, operational and end customers’ requirements. Identify opportunities for improvements and efficiencies.
  • Take ownership of both large/complex changes or a cluster of smaller change/improvement projects, from planning through to completion. Follow up on change to ensure it becomes embedded. Communicate status of work, escalating risks or issues if and where necessary along with suggested mitigating actions where possible.
  • Plan initiatives and ensure resources, cost, risks, issues, assumptions & dependencies are fully identified, including an assessment of all potential benefit and dis-benefits.
  • Lead training and technical innovation within the System Operations team.
  • Liaison with internal stakeholders and with our external regulators. Involvement in investigation of non-compliances and taking a lead in continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the tools available for other System Operations teams to perform are suitable to needs, working closely with Digital and OT teams on this requirement.

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

The preferred candidate will either be a graduate, or ONC/HNC or equivalent in a technical discipline. Experience within the utilities industry and working knowledge of hydraulics is desirable.

You will be able to demonstrate the ability to learn new subject matter quickly, along with an ability to communicate complex issues to a wide audience. Good interpersonal skills, so you will have the ability to get support and co-operation from others not directly under your control.

  • Analytical with a strong attention to detail
  • A practical understanding of change management methodology
  • Self-starting with a high degree of personal drive
  • Experience and aptitude to engage with key stakeholders
  • Resilient with experience of operating in high-pressure environments
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Able to convert large data sets into graphs / tables to demonstrate and articulate findings
  • Ability to present in front of large groups
  • Fully competent at using the appropriate Company IT systems (preferably GIS, SCADA knowledge) and Office software.
