About the role:

As the Highways and Network Rail Co-ordinator, you’ll provide support to the Engineering Assurance and Construction Managers in submitting and managing streetworks notices via the streetworks notification system (Street Manager or NRSWA system) and assist with third party interface. This role covers London and the Thames Valley areas.

The role also involves supporting the Programme & Construction Delivery teams with customer/stakeholder engagement and communications for works associated to Waste Infra programmes and ensuring Network Rail requirements are fulfilled (e.g. BAPAs).

Key Accountabilities:

  • Submit, review and manage the streetworks noticing process from end to end including supporting the Project and Construction Manager with site meetings and holiday relief. 
  • Co-ordinate the engagement and communication process for the AMP7 Waste Infra reactive programme of work by managing the interface between AMP7 Capital Delivery/ SCR and the Customer Liaison team.
  • Ensure the project is not delayed by working closely with Network Rail and the Highways authorities.
  • Ensure the project is delivered to time, quality and cost through co-ordination and liaison with the relevant authorities (internal or external) to ensure the smooth running of the project.
  • Manage the commercial elements of submitting noticing and ensure that the programme team/SCR team remain compliant with regards to highways charges for example S74’s and reporting to the management team should charges or change to programme arise.
  • Support business change and improvement - encourage and support innovation from the supply chain.
  • Co-ordinate with other functions to ensure knowledge on contractor performance is shared and action taken to achieve excellent performance.
  • Pursue a customer-focussed culture, driving this through the contract, unrelenting in a pursuit of excellence in service delivery to both internal and external customers.
  • Proactively protect and enhance Thames Water’s reputation with external customers and stakeholders.
  • Ensure the contractors and consultants are following the correct processes, procedures and standards throughout the design, construction and commissioning periods.
  • Ensure that change is managed effectively to minimise cost and programme impacts and mitigate the risks to compliance, performance, health, safety, wellbeing or the environment.

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Degree qualified or significant experience in a similar role.
  • Member of a relevant professional body or equivalent.
  • Significant experience working in a similar/design role.
  • Experience in streetworks process via Street Manager, NRSWA and customer interface.
  • Relevant understanding of construction/operational business.
  • Balance competing demands to deliver solutions accepted by all parties.
  • Strong communication, engagement and organisational skills.
  • Experience in the water industry is ideal.
  • A great team player with the ability to work collaboratively in a challenging project environment.
  • Self-starting, resilient and tenacious under pressure, with a desire to successfully deliver projects to time, cost and quality.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Ideally, you’ll work closely with the SCR team understanding the complex issues unique to Rail and Highways biased specific schemes and communicating this out to customers and stakeholders as well as owning the streetworks noticing and management process.
