About the role:

As Delivery Lead, you will be a DevOps professional, essential to helping Thames Water achieve its ambition as the leading digital-first utility company.

Your role is integral to the new product delivery methodology currently being pioneered within the technology department and will be responsible for the technical aspects of the product.

The role is responsible for leading the design, build and operational management of secure and scalable software. You will implement new ways of working within the technology department and will promote and enable a shift to Rapid Delivery across the technology department.

You will own the agile processes and governance within their team developing key relationships within the business and the IT organisation. You will guide and coach the team on a continual basis in the use of agile practices and recommend improvements to team ways of working. You espouse experimentation and regularly review the benefits of new practices.

The delivery lead is in place to support the team and support the product owner and the team to prioritise and deliver the product backlog.

You will coordinate the assessment of new product demand while maintaining delivery on work already in process. You will help to coach and mentor less experienced colleagues in this way of working.

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or aligned experience
  • Scrum Certified, minimum Practitioner level
  • Experience working in an Agile Delivery Environment working as a scrum master or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in Agile delivery environments and has a good understanding of Agile / DevOps delivery.
  • Builds credible relationships with stakeholders and uses expertise to influence and shape Thames plans and strategies.
  • Experience managing financial budgets
  • Good skills and knowledge of digital delivery, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency 
  • Familiar with reporting progress to the business and IT stakeholders
  • Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, BDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games
