About the role:

As the Water Regulations Inspector, you are responsible for the quality of water in your area. This is a field-based role, carrying out water regulations inspections in accordance with the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 and the Water Industry Act 1991.

The role is technically involved, requiring the inspection of water systems in all types of properties connected directly or indirectly to the water supply, specifically activities that pose a greater risk to the water supply.

This role involves carrying out planned inspections of customers plumbing systems and activities including the following:

  • Water Quality failure inspections
  • Existing site inspections and new build inspections
  • Water efficiency
  • Approved Plumber audits
  • RPZ audits
  • Ad-hoc inspections

As a result of the inspection, several rectifications may be required by the customer to make the system compliant in accordance with the regulations and therefore excellent customer interaction skills are a must for this role. The inspector role is not just technical, it requires interaction with internal and external stakeholders and therefore the individual must be confident and possess the drive to live the visions and values of the business.

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Previous plumbing experience and a relevant qualification would be an advantage for this role
  • Ability to compile detailed reports by hand and using IT systems
  • Computer literate
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail are required
  • Confident in dealing with challenging customers and a proven track record in customer service delivery
  • Previous experience of carrying out inspections and audits as required for the role
  • Due to the nature of the position, a full driving licence is essential for this role
