About the role:

We are currently seeking a DSEAR Qualifying Supervisor. This technical role primarily involves undertaking auditing of inspection and remedial works to BS EN 60079-14/17 by our Hazardous Area equipment Inspection Framework Contractors to ensure that it is completed to a high standard. The ideal candidate will be contributing to the success of DSEAR quality improvements across the business as well as the overall promotion and compliance with the Company Electrical Safety Rules. This role will include:

  • Day to Day management of the Hazardous Area equipment Inspection audit programme ensuring that we cover a wide cross-section of contractors' work.
  • Create reports resulting from inspections and create action plans
  • Contribute to Technical Forums to help drive safety improvements across the business.
  • Scrutiny of Technical Reports and quotations to ensure accuracy and best value.
  • Effective communication with your colleagues and Framework Contractors in an effective manner to drive best behaviours and practices.
  • Provide DSEAR Technical Support to your team and across the business
  • Contribute to solving problems on a variety of DSEAR challenges across the business
  • To promote and maintain health, safety, and wellbeing performance within the team

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Must have previous experience in working as an Electrical Installation Electrician within an industrial environment, ideally Water Utility or Petro-Chemical sectors, and be an approved Electrician with 18th Edition and Inspection & Testing.
  • Worked as a CompEx qualified Installation Electrician with significant installation experience and in a supervisory position.
  • Acted as a Qualifying Supervisor (Ex) in an organisation undertaking inspection of explosion-protected equipment to BS EN 60079-14/17.
  • Have an Electrical Engineering or significant electrical engineering qualification to at least ONC or C&G 'C' Course
  • Hold a current qualification of CompEx Gas & Vapours (Ex01-Ex04)
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of working on various equipment protection concepts (d, e, i, m, n) 
  • Understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes is advantageous but not essential. 
  • In addition to CompEx Gas & Vapours (Ex01-Ex04) ideally have CompEx Dust (Ex05-Ex06) and/or CompEx Water Industry (Ex09 – Ex10)
  • Able to use Office365 in particular MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
  • Good understanding of the Electricity at Work Regulations and their application to the business.
  • A full driving licence is essential as the role requires travel within the Thames Water region. You will have the option of a Thames Water Van or car allowance.
