What you will be doing:

As part of our exciting plans, the Thames Digital operations team structure is growing to strengthen and increase our in-house capability and capacity. You will work from home and be able to demonstrate your skills, ideas and insights openly.

This is a challenging role that requires you to help deliver the best license management service for Thames Water. You will be part of a new team creating our own in house multi-million-pound ITIL service management framework reporting to the software asset manager. You will be involved in continuously improving our service for our current and future long-term vision.

The Software License team are responsible for managing licensing activities for Thames Water including Data Capture, Entitlement capture, Reconciliation, Renewals, Software metering, license optimisation and monthly report production.

The Software License Analyst Lead will manage and support the Software Licence Manager, to ensure that all of Thames Water’s license management services are provided in an effective and efficient manner. The Software License Analyst Lead will also support the team with the maintenance of procedures and process as well as overseeing the Housekeeping of our ServiceNow SAM Pro inventory tool.

You will work with project teams to guide the software licence requirements of projects as they become BAU to ensure that they are in place before the transition and that ongoing costs have been included in forward planning Service Management. You will support other service management processes and activities including change management, release management, service asset and configuration management, incident management, problem management and capacity management.

We’re looking for you to provide:

Licence Management Reporting – support the provision of regular, transparent and accurate reporting on all Licence activities. Work in collaboration with the software asset manager, operational risk and compliance manager to identify risks and issues that arise from software licence management.

Continuous Service Improvement – make recommendations and highlight service continuity management CSI activities to improve overall licence management.

Stakeholder Management – develop key relationships within the business areas and in the Thames Digital department to support the delivery of software licence management activities to ensure that stakeholders are fully engaged.

  • You will ensure all inventory data is collected and correct.
  • You will take ownership and action of importing data, normalising, and analysis of data.
  • You will assist and recommend Continuous Service improvements to improve the service.
  • You will capture, prepare and enter Entitlement data.
  • You will highlight opportunities for re-harvesting of software licences and rationalisation of software.
  • You will provide accurate ELP reports highlighting breaches in compliance and making recommendations for mitigation of risk and optimisation.
  • You will develop key relationships within the business areas and in the IT department to support the delivery of software licence management activities to ensure that stakeholders are fully engaged to maintain license optimisation, data integrity and license compliance.

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

We are looking for someone educated to degree level or equivalent experience and must have experience in software license procurement and management with IT management experience within a large IS department. The right applicant will have excellent interpersonal skills and fully experienced at dealing with stakeholders, risk management, software audit and reporting and operational support.

You will likely have experience in the following:

  • You will have specialist experience in producing ELP’s for any of the following vendors IBM, SAP, Microsoft and Oracle including understanding their license terms and conditions.
  • You will have ITIL qualifications and CSAM or an equivalent.
  • You will have experience of an industry-standard discovery/SAM tool such as Snow, Flexera etc. ServiceNow SAM Pro would be an advantage.

Desirable:

  • You will keep track of Data Trends.
  • Any software or Application Knowledge and any Microsoft MCP accreditations would be an advantage.
