About the role:

We are on the look-out for an experienced Marketing and Communications professional to join our busy Comms team in Central Reading, Berkshire.

This role is for a 6-month FTC based in central Reading, Berkshire. We are flexible on your location as we are currently working remotely.

As part of this, you’ll be responsible for external customer communications across our Developer Services (DS) department portfolio, from website content to external letters, emails and text messages. You’ll design impactful end-to-end communications that skilfully navigate the customer through every step of their journey, whether it’s getting a new water pipe, or disconnecting an old one.

As a born communicator able to talk to diverse audiences, you can cut though the noise to understand the objective, design a contact strategy and produce strong copy. If you have a strong marketing or communications background, with a dash of project management, you’ll fit right in.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Designing contact strategies and delivering communication elements to support our customer journeys, ensuring simplicity, effectiveness, consistency, appropriate timing and alignment to brand and objectives
  • Translating complex messages into clear, concise communications tailored to the target audience, across a range of channels and in line with our brand and tone of voice
  • Driving continuous improvement by measuring and acting on outcomes and feedback
  • Reflecting legal, regulatory and accessibility requirements and data protection laws
  • Working across all areas of customer communication that relate to Developer Services
  • Supporting during incidents (such as a major water main bursting), liaising with operational teams and writing regular customer updates

You’ll have some experience in:

  • Marketing/communications with a solid understanding of brand
  • Service channels and using communications to drive channel shift
  • Working on customer journeys
  • Devising and delivering creative communication plans
  • Briefing creative agencies/graphic designers
