About the role:

The successful Data Analyst will support the delivery of management information (MI), insight and data analysis within the UK’s largest Water and Wastewater Company. Your skills will help to drive process improvements and inform operational business decision making.

The successful candidate will help shape the future of our use of data in the business to the benefit of our customers. Typical tasks in this role include building logic, development of reporting, automation of data processes (or rebuilding them to be more efficient), ad hoc analysis and insight, change management and working with tools such as SQL, R, Python and SPSS modeller for predictive modelling.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Working with large data sets drawn from a wide variety of internal and external sources; including environmental data, survey feedback and operational data.
  • Designing and manipulating databases, carrying out data transformations and working with the business to improve our ways of working.
  • Supporting the business and working with stakeholders closely to design, build and maintain a range of reports. You will identify insights and trends from data sets using statistical methods and modelling.
  • You will be a key point of contact, collaborating with colleagues and engaging with stakeholders to further our objectives. You will influence and inform colleagues and senior leadership on operational decisions.
  • You will maintain data quality and ensure data is secure and properly utilised in line with the GDPR.

To be successful, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • We are looking for an individual to help drive enhanced business performance to the benefit of our customers through the use of data.
  • Candidates require a degree or equivalent within an analytical field (e.g. Science, Maths, Geographical disciplines) and have experience with databases, data analysis and reporting. Postgraduate degrees are an advantage. Experience of applying your skills within a business environment is a benefit but not a requirement.
  • Knowledge of some or all of the following software is an advantage: SPSS Modeller, Python, R, or Business Objects. You must have intermediate Excel capabilities or PowerBI or applicable knowledge of SQL.
  • We’re looking for a self-motivated individual with a critical mindset and strong, proven analytical expertise.
  • To be successful in this role, you will be comfortable working quickly and under pressure to support our management teams.  You must be able to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
