About the role:

This is an exciting role that will play an important part in identifying, managing, mitigating, and ultimately reducing asset, system and business risk across our Water Networks.   

We are looking for high calibre Risk Consultant to effectively manage risk across Water Networks. With guidance, you will define, embed, and refine our end to end risk management process, including risk assurance.

You will articulate the level of risk for work and people against cost and service to minimise impact to our customers. Working closely with Managers and local teams, you will understand the risks Water Networks is facing, and provide reporting and analysis to support prioritisation and escalation for funding

What experience do I need?

  • We are looking for someone with extensive risk management experience, preferably within the water utilities industry who can effectively own, manage and escalate risks and issues as they arise.
  • You will be a tenacious and resilient individual with the ability to work with confidence in a challenging and reactive environment.
  • You will be comfortable adapting your communication style to delivery teams as well as more corporate senior stakeholders, and you will display demonstrable experience of this.
  • This is an exciting and challenging role, therefore a track record of being responsible for governance compliance as well as engaging with the teams to drive the risk management forward is important.
  • You will also be responsible for the preparation of documentation for risk review session as required.
  • You will also be fully competent at using IT systems and Office software.
  • The ability to articulate clearly business cases linked to benefits and risk is crucial to the success of this role.
  • Due to the nature of this role you are required to have a valid full driving licence.

What will the role involve?

  • Produce accurate and timely reports to support the overall programme
  • Excellent communications with strong interpersonal skills are essential alongside the ability to influence high level internal and external stakeholders.
  • Undertake risk assessments, which involves analysing risks as well as identifying, describing, and estimating the risks affecting Water Networks
  • Evaluate risk, which involves comparing estimated risks with criteria established by the organisation such as costs, legal requirements, and environmental factors, and evaluate previous handling of risks
  • Prepare presentations and reports to review risks with the internal stakeholders at risk review meetings.
  • Provide support, education and training to staff to build risk awareness within the organisation.
  • Work with the operational team and contractors to design and plan solutions for risks. Includes management of contractors effectively to deliver projects on time and within budget.
