We are looking for a Senior Finance Manager Digital on a 10- 12 month FTC,  to support the Head of Finance – Digital and the Digital senior leadership team in managing and driving their business through timely and accurate reporting, sound financial control and insightful analysis.  Ensure that functions financial reporting is complete, accurate and timely.

Key accountabilities:

  • Business Partnering - Build effective relationships with the Digital business management teams to support the achievement of shared business objectives and ensure adherence to agreed process and procedures.
  • Process Compliance & Control - Ensure financial decisions, statements and reports produced by the finance team align with corporate processes, are compliant with all regulatory and accounting standards and that agreed financial controls are in place and monitored using relevant KPIs.
  • Preparation of budgets for operational and capital expenditure; this includes the development of cost and output metrics, including unit costing, to support the proposed budget and to enable meaningful performance reporting and analysis. Support the P&L owners in the delivery of a rolling forecast on a monthly basis.
  • Production of timely and accurate reports of actual financial performance to satisfy the requirements of Thames Digital, covering performance against financial indicators that provides meaningful management information and supports decision-making.
  • Control the business unit profit & loss account, cash flow and balance sheet through regular reconciliation and review. Capitalise costs on a timely basis.
  • Support the Head of Finance, Digital and the CFO for Retail and Digital in the ownership of the finance elements of governance processes including the approvals under SODA to spend money, capital approvals process, raising of purchase orders and work for packs.
  • Develop and manage a high performing Finance team. This team will provide support to the Digital Leadership team through reporting, analysis and challenge.
  • Support the tracking of efficiency initiatives, agree on projected costs and benefits and track realisation in actual results.
  • Ensure correct accounting treatment is applied for new supplier contracts.
  • Identify and deliver improvements to financial control processes.
  • Meet all regulatory and financial reporting requirements; liaise with Thames Water Group Finance to understand any relevant accounting or reporting developments.

Essential:

  • Strong analytical ability, skilled at linking financial and non-financial data
  • Good stakeholder management; capable of balancing different organisations’ requirements
  • Evidence of business partnering with non-finance managers
  • Ability to communicate at all levels and provide challenge where appropriate
  • Strong team leadership and development
  • Qualified accountant with significant business experience
  • Good presentation skills

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in technology and/or project-based environment is preferred
  • Practised at pulling together data from different sources for reporting and analysis
