About the role:

Materials Testing Analytical Consultants are responsible for undertaking British Standard (BS)6930 laboratory testing to WRAS and DWI regulations. The data generated is used to obtain WRAS and DWI approval on their non-metallic materials and fittings in contact with drinking water used within the UK.

You will be part of a unique and valuable team of 4 staff who provide and deliver a high-quality testing service to manufacturers and suppliers of materials used in water supply/distribution and building installations.  Working as part of a team, you will be responsible for meeting the requirements of WRAS, DWI and UKAS and ensuring that the analytical testing service is delivered to time, cost and quality standards whilst achieving excellent customer service

Key Accountabilities:

  • Handling customer enquiries and issues as they arise relating to the testing of their products.
  • Producing customer quotations and invoices.
  • Preparation of samples before analytical testing.
  • Compiling of final reports upon completion of results.
  • Sample extract preparation and analysis to defined UKAS, WRAS and BS 6920 standards.
  • Completion and collation of test results.
  • Monitoring and recording of all temperature critical processes, calibration and maintenance of equipment.
  • Working with quality management systems to ISO 17025.
  • Adherence to Health & Safety standards.
  • Bank holiday and occasional weekend working hours will also be required.

To be successful, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • A-levels science and/or previous relevant work experience.
  • Ability to follow strict instructions and guidelines.
  • Organised, self-motivated person who thrives on delivering exceptional results. You will be comfortable in carrying out routine tests and analysis.
  • Comfortable with repetitive work but has a real passion for working both in a laboratory and external customer-facing role.
  • Ability to work under pressure and capable of changing direction and increasing skills base.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Constantly looking for ways to improve both yourself and processes and will be comfortable in putting your ideas forward.
  • You will have the customer at the heart of everything you do and will value being part of a team to deliver exceptional customer service.
