About the role:

This is an exciting and varied role that offers a great opportunity to help facilitate change in a critical area of Water Control Room Operations, Alarm Management. You will be responsible for using your SCADA experience to support the Water System Operations Control Room team in driving the improvement of Alarm Management across the Water estate.

Understanding the regulatory and operational requirements of the System Operations team, you will, with support, analyse and review existing processes and procedures to ensure wider System Operations team are enabled to deliver on regulatory, operational and end customers’ requirements

This role will be key to ensuring Water Operations are able to update and follow the standards to enable a step-change in Alarm Management including alarm reduction. You will be working alongside a diverse and engaged team in a fast-paced environment in a role that has the potential to significantly benefit the company’s operational performance.

To support with continuous improvement of the capabilities of the System Operations team you will help develop and articulate requirements for system changes to our service providers and work closely with them and other stakeholders to deliver these successfully into the Control Room.

What do I need?

We are seeking a SCADA Engineer to drive improvements for Water System Operations. To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

  • HNC or Degree in a science/engineering or Control subject.
  • Previous experience in using SCADA is beneficial
  • Ability to use your own initiative to organise and prioritise workload
  • Have experience working within an operational business environment (ideally water or utility industry)
  • Have strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to apply structure and logic to problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication skills – you can communicate technical issues to a non-technical audience.
  • Good commercial and business acumen.
  • Fully competent at using IT systems and office software.
