About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity within the System Operations team. The System Operations team monitor and control the treatment and transmission of water throughout the whole water supply system. The Control team and wider System Operations team utilise multiple in-house bespoke built digital tools, to aid with decision making and reporting on the operational status of the water supply system.

This role will specifically, involve a range of activities related to the improvement and maintenance of the data sets that support the information and insight provided by the Decisions Support Tools used by the System Operations team in Thames Water. The role will be responsible for configuration and maintenance of the data – including metadata, Scada, PI and any other data feeds. You will work closely with the digital team and Product Owners to satisfy the requirement to operate and maintain the data set  to meet business operational needs

Within this role, you will understand the regulatory and operational requirements of the System Operations team and analyse and review existing processes and procedures to ensure wider System Operations team are enabled to deliver on regulatory, operational and end customers’ requirements. You will fully understand the business requirements, business usage and the functionality of the Decision Support Tools used by the System Operations team at Thames Water. Understand the landscape of the configuration of the data that feeds the Decision Support Tools.

What do I need?:

  • Either graduate, typically with several years relevant work experience, or ONC/HNC or equivalent in a field related to technical speciality, typically with significant years relevant work experience.
  • Ability to use your own initiative to organise and prioritise workload
  • Have experience working within an operational business environment (ideally water or utility industry)
  • Have strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to apply structure and logic to problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication skills – you can communicate technical issues to a non-technical audience.
  • Good commercial and business acumen.
  • Fully competent at using the appropriate Company IT systems (preferably GIS, SCADA knowledge) and Office software
  • Resilient with experience of operating in high-pressure environments
  • Understanding of change management methodology
  • Experience and aptitude to engage with key stakeholders
