About the role:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Field Operations Manager. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the North East London Trunk Sewer Catchment Team, delivering both planned and reactive sewer maintenance activities, responding to operational events, and delivering excellent customer service.  

In this role, you will also need to develop a strong working relationship with other Thames Water business units, network teams, key contractors, and other external stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage a total of up to 11 Trunk Sewer Technicians.
  • Be responsible for driving continuous improvement – most notably in Health and Safety.
  • Meet challenging operational, maintenance, and customer-driven targets.
  • Conduct regular field & workplace audits on safety and quality of work, developing and driving team engagement.
  • This position is a mixture of field/office-based, the percentage split based on changing business needs and challenges (average 50/50 split).  You will be expected to complete audits and coaching both in the office and out on site.
  • Occasional night work may be required to support and drive team output.

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience in leading a high-performing team of Operational staff.
  • Good working knowledge of health and safety legislation is essential.
  • An understanding of Electrical & Mechanical principles.
  • A proven record of achieving results through managing others and can deal with periods of increased activity.
  • Competent in IT & internal systems and an ability to interpret reporting data.
  • Able to work in confined spaces (training provided).
  • full valid UK driving license
  • Practical working knowledge of wastewater networks would be highly beneficial, allowing you to provide not only leads to your team but technical mentoring as well.
