An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Water Infra-programme to work as a  Finance analyst on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract.

As a Finance Analyst, you will be the single point and accountability of Infra-Programmes and Water Capex's financial position and governance. This is a great opportunity to work closely with the Programme Managers, Project Managers, and senior Stakeholders.

The role is an L6 role sitting in the Infra-programmes team reporting to the PMO Manager and Head of Water Network Performance, Portfolio & Programme Management.

Infra-programmes forms part of the Water networks Business unit and manages a £100m Capex programme per annum.

Key Accountabilities: 

Finance

  • Review c£100m Capex expenditure and challenge data submitted against performance commitments.
  • Lead on Capex Reporting and presenting to senior stakeholders throughout the business (finance & non-finance).
  • Business Partnering to understand performance and business-specific issues.
  • Providing financial support to non-finance colleagues.
  • Development and tracking of leading and lagging indicators; reporting of KPIs and risks and opportunities.
  • Developing best practice processes and procedures around assimilating and communicating operational and financial performance.
  • Implementing process improvements in key controls and efficiencies supporting budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Overseeing financial control of cost planning activities.

Governance:

  • Manage project governance and support programme managers to seek funding.
  • Review and challenge Investment Committee Papers.
  • Providing Governance updates to senior stakeholders.

Adhoc

  • Experience in using company IT systems including SAP and Power BI is desirable.
  • Experience in Capex reporting is advantageous.
  • Experience in delivering key deliverables of high quality and accuracy to tight timescales.

Key Requirements:

  • This role is suited toward a part-qualified or equivalent accountant 
  • Extensive Project Controls or Finance degree background may be considered.
  • Experience in Financial reporting and Variance analysis is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills will be essential. Responsible for maintaining and building robust relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Suited to working in a team towards common objectives.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
  • Committed self-starter with a proactive approach.
