About the role:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Outage manager who can be based in the London or Thames Valley Area. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the project management of the regional outages programme to time and budget through engagement and collaboration with key stakeholders internally and externally to Thames Water.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ownership of the outage project life cycle to raise awareness and buy in to ensure completion of the AMP programme.
  • Responsible for project planning stage to ensure dependencies and assumptions are in place to ensure successful completion of outages.
  • Build a network to deliver the project enablers to ensure smooth delivery of the outage programme. The network would include Asset Management, Ops, System Ops, WQ, CD and DMC team and external stakeholders such as DWI and EA.
  • Be the central point to clear issues that could put the outage programme at risk of not delivering to time and budget.
  • Develop outage plans with key stakeholders to ensure H&S and public health is maintained throughout the programme.
  • Identify risks to effectively deliver projects and develop, communicate & implement project risk management strategies to mitigate them.
  • Incident management outages as they happen and ensure that aborts are correctly enacted if the pre-set criteria are triggered.
  • Lead on creating an environment to discuss learnings from each outage project to ensure Thames Water completed the outage programme for the AMP.
  • Develop Business cases for capital investment into assets to ensure all key enablers for outages are robust well ahead of ‘go-no-go approvals.
  • Work with key stakeholders to ensure the Business plan aligns with the outage programme.
  • Work with key stakeholders such as Asset Management, CD and System Ops to develop long term outage plan.
  • Develop and drive Communications strategy and plan for the project, in line with wider company communications strategies.

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Proven track record of successful delivery in the management of Water Production or Water industry with 24/7 operations
  • Degree level or equivalent in a Business or Professional (e.g. Engineering) Discipline with additional relevant qualifications e.g. Portfolio, Programme or Project management qualifications, as well as Significant Project Management experience
  • Ability to identify and measure business performance improvement opportunities through robust and logical problem solving, strategic, analytical and financial evaluation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to positively influence and work collaboratively with all levels of an organisation to achieve improved business outcomes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills demonstrated at all levels of the business Demonstrative capability with risk-based and analytical decision making
  • Good business knowledge and ability to think strategically across the organisation
  • Ability to devise compelling business cases for enabling activities
  • Ability to work flexibly when required – most projects are site-based and you will be required to travel across the region; Driving licence essential
  • Proven ability to manage a team
