What you will be doing

This is an opportunity to be involved in some of the largest and most exciting projects in the water industry.  As part of a newly established and growing engineering team you will use your experience and expertise to drive innovation and team performance.

This is a vital role within the London Infrastructure Delivery Office providing assurance that our delivery partners are delivering the required assets to the time, quality and cost expected of a forward- thinking client operating in a regulated environment.

As well as owning a portfolio of their own projects this role will have responsibility for management of the team in the successful and seamless construction of assets, safeguarding any site, process, regulatory and statutory requirements and ensuring changes required to operate the new plant are effectively managed while maximising benefits to Thames Water.

This lead role and team will be aligned to either the London Infrastructure Waste or Water programmes.

Some specific responsibilities will be: 

  • Day-to-day management of the team, which is made up of Thames Water employees and delivery partners, to ensure that the team achieve project delivery outputs.
  • Promoting Thames Water’s health and safety culture.  
  • Applying engineering technical experience to support the Project Team
  • Monitoring and review of project programmes, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Improve coordination with other teams across Thames Water to ensure knowledge on contractor performance is shared and action is taken to achieve excellent performance.

We’re looking for you to:

  • Be an experienced assurance and handover team manager from within a delivery focused environment
  • Have excellent construction and handover experience and be able to demonstrate a health and safety focus, particularly within Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
  • Have experience of working in an engineering delivery environment with an understanding on how construction projects are developed, managed and closed out for the client and customers
  • Be able to manage in a way that promotes improved performance and development, building collaborative and capable teams with brilliant customer engagement.
  • Have proven resolve to achieving great results within challenging environments.
  • Be able to assimilate new information and problem solve
  • Have a safe, logical way of progressing work when faced with ambiguities that can occur in a forward focused environment
  • Have the ability and desire to coach your team and our delivery partners
  • Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft O365
