What you will be doing

As the Sampling Field Operations Manager, you’ll proactively and safely deliver Thames Water’s regulatory and operational sampling programmes, ensuring quantity and quality targets are achieved.

Responsible for the management of a diverse team of remotely based Water Quality technicians in the water side of the business, you’ll provide a first-class sampling service to Operations and key stakeholders. Ensuring all Health & Safety obligations and team management responsibilities are achieved, you’ll coach and drive the team performance through active management.

You’ll actively take part in the out of hours rota, covering 1 weekend in 6.

We’re looking for you to:

  • Be a credible leader with the drive and energy to deliver, leading and supporting your team whilst ensuring a culture of safety and performance management
  • Be educated to degree level or equivalent - preferably in a scientific or environmental discipline
  • Be knowledgeable in the clean water network processes
  • Deliver exceptional customer service through an enthusiastic and positive approach, taking accountability for your role while working accurately and flexibly within a busy team
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to clearly interact with our customers and stakeholders to achieve excellence communication, handovers, and effective interdependent relationships
  • Extensive knowledge or experience of QMS (Quality Management Systems), preferably ISO 17025
  • Have significant relevant industry experience within the field of water quality sampling and/or operating in a highly regulated environment
  • Have excellent IT skills including Microsoft office, Sample Manager and the EQUIS reporting system
  • Extensive knowledge of H&S requirements
  • Have a full UK driving licence as you will be required to travel
