Who are we?

Thames Water is the UK’s largest water and wastewater company. We make a daily difference to our 15 million customers by supplying 2.6 billion litres of water through 32,000 km’s of pipes, to keep taps flowing and toilets flushing. We are an essential service and have operated throughout the Covid19 pandemic.

At Thames Water, every one of our actions, big and small, matters every day. Water is essential to daily life, and that means our business is always open.

What you will be doing

As the Business Resilience Lead you will work to plan, facilitate and coordinate business resilience across Thames Water, to ensure proactive mitigation of known and unknown risks to the business. Utilising legislative guidance and cross-Sector best practice to ensure Thames has resilience against financial, customer, stakeholder and reputational risks.

Please note; this is a temporary position. Initially up to 6 months possibly longer.

We’re looking for you to:

  • Understand and ensure plans are aligned with requirements of the Security & Emergency Measures Direction, the Civil Contingencies Act and other legislation relating to business resilience
  • Understand emergency planning policies and procedures across the industry – ensuring best practice is obtained externally and shared internally with the Emergency Planning function
  • Ensure adherence and ongoing updates are made to internal business resilience plans in line with regulatory requirements, and internal strategy and standards.
  • Build, maintain and improve relationships on behalf of Thames Water with Regulators, third party stakeholders such as councils and resilience partners, as well as other category 1 and 2 responders, in line with direction from the Business Resilience, Compliance and Assurance Manager.
  • Represent Thames Water at National forums established to ensure collaborative multi-agency response and resilience – ensuring nationally raised risks, and regulatory policy changes are reflected back into the business
  • Act as an SME for business projects where resilience may be at risk, or where continuous improvement of resilience could support the wider business.

What’s in it for you?

You will be part of an exciting and pivotal team, where no two days are the same. You will be responsible for assessing risk and instigating the relevant incident response to mitigate and minimise the impact of emerging risks to the business.

We’re proud of the positive ways of working we have adopted during the pandemic. We want to create a more flexible and dynamic environment so all our colleagues can thrive. For our office-based roles we are moving to a hybrid approach where we will provide options around working from our offices, our operational sites and home dependent on role/team/individual. This will be discussed during the assessment process.

Thames Water is a unique, rewarding and diverse place to work. If you join our team, you’ll enjoy fast-tracked career opportunities, flexible working arrangements and unparalleled benefits. We’re also proud to be an equal opportunity employer, Stonewall Diversity Champion and Disability Confident Leader and we are a Times Top 50 Employer for Women.
