About the role:

We are currently seeking a Single Skilled Mech Engineer, to support a specialist maintenance team. The role includes plant PPMs, maintenance, fault diagnose, repair as appropriate mechanical plant on one of the largest wastewater treatment plants in Europe.

Working within the team you will follow robust maintenance plans as well as assisting in the setting up of new stores and inventory management system.    

This role will involve:

  • The successful candidate will be working in a multi-disciplined team and will be responsible for carrying out scheduled mandates PPMs and CBM on mechanical equipment in compliance with Thames Water procedures to minimise plant breakdowns.
  • The role will include actioning the plant lubrication and oil monitoring plan according to Thames lubrication plans, ensuring equipment’s performance.
  • You will be expected to provide assistance in the pump lifting & chain inspection programme.
  • Examples of equipment that you will be working on will be motors, gearboxes, various pumps and associated control gears.
  • The role will develop into the central point of contact for the sites parts and inventory management process.

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Ideally you should be a time served apprentice with a NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering or a related mechanical/electrical qualification.
  • Experience working on related industry stores department or similar store/parts department skills transferrable from another sector, would be beneficial.
  • Experience working on large industrial plant equipment including various pumps within the utilities industry would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are essential.
  • The work will require physical fitness; as you will work in within and manual handling and often physically demanding role.
  • A valid driving licence is essential and all necessary equipment such as tools are provided.
