What you will be doing

As the Field Scientist, you will be responsible for providing expert technical support to operational teams, maintaining regulatory compliance and meeting internal business targets. As part of this team you will be expected to undertake activities such as water quality monitoring from the source to service reservoir, investigating water quality failures or events at company assets and providing recommendations to both internal and external departments on corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence. You will also be responsible for providing technical support to Production, Network and Capital Delivery Schemes in order to ensure that water quality requirements are met and undertaking out of hours technical support.

We’re looking for you to have:

  • HNC or Degree (or equivalent) in a Scientific or Engineering discipline, plus significant experience in water treatment processes, supply or regulation.
  • Good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills are also key to this role as you will be liaising with internal stakeholders within Thames Water on a day to day basis. The ability to work in a logical and analytical manner and be able to maintain a positive and professional approach when dealing with customers is also essential.
  • Travel to other sites is required as a major part of this role thus a driving license is essential.
  • Ideally you will also have experience of working with Sample Manager, EQUIS and SAP systems. Previous line management experience would be an advantage although this is not essential.
