What you will be doing

Our overarching plan is to provide our customers with a continuous supply of safe, clean, and palatable drinking water – by focusing on our five key priorities – our people, health & safety, water quality, risk & resilience, and efficiency.

Reporting to the Area Operations Manager, you will lead several teams to deliver compliance and service levels across our water treatment works, reservoirs and boosters. This role covers a large geographical patch, spanning the beautiful Oxfordshire area, so a willingness to move around day to day is essential.

You will lead your team to ensure that we consistently meet our internal KPI’s as well as regulatory performance measures and performance commitments.

Key to the role is collaboration and stakeholder engagement, both within and outside of Water Production

This is a diverse and fast-paced role where no two days will be the same. It provides a fantastic opportunity to think differently about how we ensure reliability and resilience of our assets, whilst developing our people and driving a sustainable operating model.

You will gain a wealth of exposure to the wider business in the largest Water and Wastewater Company in the UK. You will work with leaders from across the business, contractors, and colleagues alike, ensuring health and safety is at the forefront of our work. You will undertake ‘Level 5 Management of Water Production’ training, developing your competency and knowledge across wide-ranging aspects of water production.

Main Responsibilities

  • Monitor, report, and take action against key performance indicators (KPIs) for the reliability and resilience of our asset base, the capability of our people, and the sustainable operation of our sites and network.
  • Lead your team to achieve agreed objectives, enhancing employee engagement and promoting a strong health and safety culture.
  • Ensure your team has the capacity, capability, competence, and confidence to undertake their tasks and activities. Ensure robust performance management is in place but actively supports development; ensuring appropriate succession plans are in place to maintain a continuity of operational support.
  • Liaise with senior stakeholders and operational teams to address any asset failures, water quality failures, and demand and supply issues that arise.
  • Implement, through local and regional initiatives and various operational and process steering groups, business and technical developments - promoting consistency and best practice.
  • Contribute and deliver water production continuous improvement projects and efficiency projects in conjunction with wider project teams.
  • Support controller of premise activities for sites in your area
  • You will also be required to take part in an out-of-hours rota once fully trained

We’re looking for you to:

  • Have a background in operational management and leadership of teams with specific experience or demonstrable understanding of Water Production and the wider Water Industry.
  • Have excellent organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage workload under pressure are all essential to be a success in this role. You will demonstrate confidence to present to and to influence Leaders in the organisation at all levels.
  • You will have a passion for driving positive behaviors throughout your region. You will be able to deliver against stretching operational targets and must be commercially astute.
  • Ideally, you will be degree qualified (preferably in an engineering/science discipline) however this is not essential.
  • Due to the nature of the role, a full UK Driving licence is required, however, a  car allowance will be provided.
