What you will be doing

We are seeking a motivated people manager to lead and develop a team of 2 Field Operations Managers, 2 Technical Coordinators & 20 multi-skilled technicians and operators. You will drive their personal performance and improve the overall engagement, whilst managing in line with HR policies & processes. Increasing customer service and operational performance within strict quality targets is key to the success of this role and will be achieved in line with a strong health & safety focus.

Day to day activities will include managing a budget of up to £4m, ensuring statutory planned & reactive maintenance is carried out; assure the effluent flow is maintained through effective performance management of our assets.

This role will be covering the pumping stations across the South Western area of Wastewater Pumping.

The stations you will be responsible for the overall management are placed in various locations, from urban cities to rural countryside, so you must be willing to travel and enjoy a balance of office and fieldwork.

  • We are seeking an experienced people manager with a proven track record of engaging & developing their team; ideally with field-based members. You will be used to taking the lead and achieving results in a difficult environment, with a strong focus on and good working knowledge of health and safety
  • Process Management - ensuring compliance and asset performance in order to meet serviceability targets at the agreed cost
  • Financial Management - owning and managing the budgetary and financial activities of the team and driving efficiencies into the overall operational budget
  • Performance Management - You will be responsible for ensuring the team achieve optimal performance in terms of work management and you will be responsible for developing the team & introducing new skills & Health & safety awareness
  • Customer & Stakeholder Management - ensuring exceptional service to our customers with early personal interventions as required
  • Health and Safety - You will effectively lead the Health and Safety culture of the team as well as audit the Health and Safety system & processes.

 This role is based out of either Mogden STW or Camberley STW covering the surrounding areas. Participation in a 24/7 Out of Hours Standby rota may be required after a suitable period of training and assessment, for which you will receive an additional payment

We are looking for you to

  • Have previous experience managing operational staff
  • Be focused on continuous improvement
  • Have experience managing the operational budget with a structured and proactive approach
  • Have technical knowledge of electrical and mechanical principals will be underpinned by a background in wastewater however, this is not essential
  • To be competent in using IT equipment/systems and be able to interpret complex Excel spreadsheets
  • Due to the nature of this role, full valid driving licence is needed.
