What you’ll be doing

A successful candidate will be Responsible for the company’s preparedness and response capabilities under the government legislation of SEMD (Security and Emergency Measures Direction) and the NIS (Network Information Systems) Directive

Responsible for strategy and technical definition of AMP7 security programme including installations of both physical and electronic measures across the Thames Water estate ensuring compliance to National Security guidelines and standards.

We’re looking for you to

  • Articulating Government guidance notes and defining the company requirements for Physical Security
  • Define the business culture of security awareness through leading a communication deployment plan
  • Act as the security lead and technical specialist for all interactions with Security regulations and standards
  • Accountable for the security risk assessment process (SRA) for all security elements of the business
  • Assure updated policies when required based on government or external stakeholder changes
  • Accountable for process and procedural improvements to manage and reduce security risk.
  • Improve Operational Security awareness within Thames Water working with the wider security team and Internal Comms
  • Own the SEMD programme with physical security guidance and technical standards

What Skills are we looking for?

  • Extensive security experience gained in a similar role
  • Track record of delivery within large scale, senior utility roles, along with appreciable experience across a range of functions
  • Broad understanding of the industry, business, regulatory framework, and the market
  • Relevant management or professional qualification, or equivalent
  • Strong leadership, management and influencing skills required to drive performance and continuous improvement
  • Strategic thinker, sound judgement, decisive, and excellent decision-making track record
  • Media skills and experience
  • No of Direct Reports: 1 – 5
