This is an exciting opportunity for a Planner to join our team. This is a frontline role that will cover an area within the Thames Valley region.

What you will be doing

The purpose of this role is to manage maintenance plans to ensure maximum completion and delivery. You will be responsible for changing the plan where required, submitting changes to Thames’ data teams, ensuring accuracy and balance in the plans, either through ad hoc change requests or half yearly full data reviews. 

You will host planning meetings with our field team managers, to communicate updates on plan progression, monthly performance to date, review backlog work not completed in previous months to ensure the work is completed as soon as possible.

You will build a strong relationship with key customers including field teams, schedulers and other internal teams to ensure that you become a key contact within your area.

You will manage work not completed in the month to reduce backlog work, either through cancellation, reprioritisation, or completion.

  • Maximise the field’s performance by releasing the right work at the right time
  • Work with the internal customers to maximise completion of work.  Escalate shortfalls and performance challenges promptly to field management and team manager
  • Complete a monthly Backlog review via planning meeting and create a clear action plan detailing how we plan to reduce the backlog
  • Superseded to be cancelled monthly
  • Visiting and spending time with your scheduler to discuss challenges and performance
  • Sharing knowledge and training other planners to allow cover in planned or unplanned absence
  • Work to understand points of view of wider teams and impacts of changes on our business
  • Challenging and joining in any discussions regarding continuous improvement
  • Provide feedback with examples of where I have supported others to maximise performance
  • Working collaboratively with the wider Thames Water teams and colleagues to achieve best results for our business
  • Escalating where changes/variations have been declined and reason isn’t clearly understood
  • Ensuring that planning meetings are attended, where non-attendance or unproductive meetings are taking place, escalate to team manager
  • Uploading minutes, action logs and attendance records monthly
  • Address any actions from a result of your planner audit
  • Consistently following the agreed agenda
  • Prioritising the release of work based on availability and criticality of assets

Twice a week travel to Kemble court and Sewage treatment works in the Thames Valley region will be required.

 We are looking for you to

  • Demonstrate a good business/stakeholder awareness, together with an innovative and creative approach to problem solving and decision making
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, working as a team
  • Possess strong IT literacy skills as all work is managed through a SAP system, Click and Microsoft Excel
  • Existing knowledge and experience of working within the Wastewater industry is desirable
  • Have a full valid UK driving license
