What you will be doing

Working as part of the Water Networks Transformation programme, but very closely aligned to our Workload demand, capacity planning and insights team, this role will work alongside the Business Insights Manager, working with performance data to help define meaningful metrics and KPIs that support and measure business performance. The role defines and delivers process and other KPI and data driven lag and lead tiered insights from current to Target Operating Model, across financial, operational, customer and people landscapes, for the purposes of identifying performance and execution results

This is an analytical role for someone who is an expert at business process and data modelling, analysing, interpreting, and manipulating performance data but also who has the business acumen to question what is happening in this business and how this is reflected in the data.

  • To work with the Business Insights Manager and the Water Networks and Workload demand, capacity planning and Insights team, and other BI, process, and data stakeholders, to help identify core business performance areas, and define meaningful metrics / KPIs to support these areas
  • Able to extract data from key business systems and perform data preparation techniques to a) clean data b) reconcile and ensure the integrity of the data from multiple sources
  • To support the development of data models, consistently deriving high quality and actionable business insights from the analysis of complex data
  • Able to create insightful reports and dashboards using interactive visual techniques
  • To support the analysis and insight of business data to ensure solutions and processes are developed to maximise efficiency and business performance
  • To carry out root cause analysis and provide insight that will support decision making
  • To be a technical point of contact/expert across our operational data for the Transformation Programme
  • To identify, and help resolve issues in our data and work with Digital to resolve where required
  • To lead exploration of data sets as required. If the required data does not exist, work with the business or Digital to create them if appropriate
  • Able to develop relationships with key stakeholders
  • To liaise with or attend meetings with key internal and external stakeholders, as required.
  • Competent at using analytical and influencing skills to present complex information and data and answer questions
  • Partner with the business to understand the context behind the data, ensuring the right data is being used at the right time to generate insights
  • Support, coach and challenge programme stakeholders to achieve the best outcomes for the business

We’re looking for you to:

  • Have experience in data analytics in a business environment
  • Have experience in explaining technical information to non- technical stakeholders.
  • Have experience in developing dashboards for key performance metrics
  • Have knowledge in GDPR and how it applies in data processing and storage
  • Have experience in sourcing data, bringing structure to data and providing management recommendations
  • Have experience in collaboration across multiple stakeholder/ teams to enable effective process.
  • Have experience in Excel and other data visualisation tools.
