What you’ll be doing

Covering a shift point as the Assistant Incident Manager, you will provide support to the Incident Manager as well as leading lower level incidents yourself, including activities such as risk assessments, logging, leading conference calls and chasing information.

You will be responsible for supporting and ensuring effective communication during and after all incidents, to both internal and external stakeholders, customers and our regulators in line with the expectations and requirements of the Incident Management Arrangements.

You will be accountable for ‘Hot Debrief’ immediately following the closure of each incident; sharing immediate learnings with the Incident Learning team

The Assistant Incident Manager role requires strong communication and organisational skills as your day to day duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Management of MS teams, utilising processes to enable usage of the system to support incident management in-life incident visibility to all members of the incident structure
  • Regular review of all outstanding operational risks and provision of updates accordingly
  • Utilisation of all available business systems to support effective decision-making during incidents
  • Where Thames Water have simultaneous incidents occurring you will be required to lead incidents – inclusive of the relevant logging, risk assessment and overall leadership of the incident specific team
  • Development of your personal Incident Management skills in line with required expectations for an Incident Manager role – learning from in-day support of all aspects of the IM role

We’re looking for you to have:

  • An understanding of Water and Wastewater operations is preferable
  • Previous experience managing operational incidents is preferable
  • Ability to work under pressure and effectively prioritise conflicting requirements
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience of providing detailed management reports
  • Excellent IT skills using Office software, as well as specialist Incident Management tools
  • Good decision-making skills, in a risk-based environment
  • Good relationship management and leadership skills
  • Experience of working shift patterns is preferable
