Process Technician

What is the purpose of this role?

The purpose of this site-based Process Technician role is to ensure sewage is treated effectively and efficiently, protecting our river and our local environment. You will gain experience in both sewage and sludge treatment processes, monitoring these streams daily to ensure they produce excellent quality river water and generate renewable energy.  This role will involve monitoring, data analysis, sampling, fault-finding, and basic proactive & reactive maintenance activities.

  • You will play a key role in ensuring that our treatment processes work effectively every day. Each day can present unique challenges whether it’s reacting fast to a plant failure, identifying and stopping slow-burning negative trends, diagnosing faults within the process, or proactively making changes to improve the way that we work.

  • You will be part of a skilled & enthusiastic team, who rely on working together and utilizing each other’s skillsets to get the job done correctly and safely. You will gain experience with a wide range of plants and equipment from screening units to pumping stations and learn techniques, both old and innovative, for treating sewage.

What will this role involve?

This process technician role will involve but not be limited to:

  • Sampling and monitoring both the sewage and the sludge treatment process
  • Recording and analyzing data to identify positive and negative process trends
  • Reacting to equipment failure and diagnosing faults
  • Carrying out planned maintenance activities on plant and equipment
  • Assisting maintenance technicians with repairing and replacing plant
  • Completing planned jobs that are associated with the health and safety of employees working on site
  • Attending health and safety training and process-related technical courses
  • Engaging in ‘huddles’ and team meetings, suggesting improvements to safe working practices and general process efficiency

What skills are we looking for?

Ideal applicants will have a process background in an industrial or similar setting.  

Due to the nature of the role a valid UK driving license is essential.

This role is a site-based role working out of East Hyde sewage treatment works in Bedfordshire.

All necessary equipment such as vehicles and tools will be provided. Please note, working hours will be approx. 07:30 – 15:30. Once appropriately trained, and after the probational period,  the successful candidate may be paid to be on a standby rota, which will include weekend work when required.
