What is the purpose of this role?

Working in the Performance Risk and Optimisation team, within the Wastewater Network Operations Business this role is pivotal in enabling the business to achieve its environmental, operational and financial targets. Thames Water is committed to improving capability and utilising innovation to meet increasingly challenging targets to sustain asset and process resilience.

You will be focused on releasing intelligence and insight from operational data and ensuring alignment with core business objectives and drivers. Your innovative use of reporting and performance visualisation will ensure that key decision-making outputs, intervention delivery, performance, and benefit tracking are all appropriately aligned to business objectives and drivers.

This role is also accountable for the insight processes that are deployed in terms of continuity, quality and sustainability as these outputs are also a catalyst for change and further improvement

What will this role involve?

Working with a mixture of analysts, stakeholders and technology delivery leads to constantly evolving and developing data solutions that deliver continuous improvement to our capability to align intervention delivery with performance against objectives.

Developing a clear understanding of operational performance and processes and leading the development and deployment of decision-based solutions that deliver measurable impact against detailed objective targets, supporting the transition of key decision making from reactive to proactive and insight driven.

Change and transition will be the result of extensive detailed data analysis, stakeholder engagement, proof of concept and demonstrable monitoring of impact against objective and benefit.

A key attribute of this role is to be able to deploy change in a way that promotes and develops engagement, ownership, accountability and trust.

What skills are we looking for?

This is a specialised role. You will be an excellent communicator able to operate across all levels of the business with proven competency performing advanced data analytics within the architecture of an enterprise wide systems containing asset, process, performance and geospatial data sets. Ideally, this would be in an engineering or utility (water) based industry.

Clear evidence of influencing and delivering change within a challenging environment are as essential as demonstrable ability to be able to exploit complex data and decision tools and ensure outputs and communication are relative to operational and objective scenarios.

Thames Water is migrating towards the Microsoft Azure product suite deploying cloud based and physical solutions. The successful candidate would be able to demonstrate appropriate competence at an enterprise scale with the following

  • Relational Data Management Architectures
  • Data analytics, mining, statistical analysis
  • Data transitioning and ETL
  • Analytical processing
  • Asset and Attribute data structures
  • Geospatial analysis
  • Result and performance visualisation
