Senior Process Scientist

What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Process Scientist you will be responsible for:

Providing expert knowledge and experience of sewage treatment processes to Operations, capital delivery and other business areas. 

You will be focused on driving improvements through predicting, identifying, investigating and resolving issues on site. Key factors will involve working closely with the Operational Team to deliver demonstrable benefits and efficiencies in cost and planning. To use your process experience and knowledge to maintain regulatory compliance.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide Thames Water with expert wastewater treatment process knowledge and direction to deliver local and company wide optimisation projects to reduce costs
  • Assist in identifying, prioritising and promoting through the risk process and develop, maintain, improve and implement standards

 

Performance Measures

  • Work with operations to deliver 100% compliance against WRA and UWWTD & sludge regulations
  • Provide timely support to field operations as requested based on risk prioritisation
  • Ensure compliance issues are escalated appropriately to drive resolution
  • Identify and promote local or company wide optimisation opportunities
  • Use data intelligently to facilitate the identification and prioritisation of optimisation activities
  • Implement successful Innovation ideas that reduce cost within own area
  • Review risks and identify trends at local month risk review meetings

We are looking for you to have 

  • NVQ Level 3 Process Effluent and Sludge and extensive Process Engineering or operational experience
  • Degree or equivalent in a related subject would be advantageous
  • Experience in Managing Projects is advantageous
  • Experience of working within wastewater treatment processes
  • Experience in coordinating multi-disciplinary activities
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good fault finding skills
  • Driving licence is essential
  • Ability to work across departmental boundaries
  • Experience of training/coaching staff advantageous
  • Computer literacy is essential
  • Must be able to lone work on STW & SPS sites
