What will this role involve?
The purpose of this role is to perform a range of assigned front-line maintenance/operational activities on our sewage treatment works in Esher Surrey. This will include planned and preventative maintenance of sewage pumping stations to support the operation of our assets.
The role may also require you to take part in a 1 week in every 6 weeks out of an hour's emergency standby rota, for which you receive additional payments.
On a day-to-day basis, you will receive your “workload” and will also be answering to emergency alarms. You will be working as part of a team but may also be alone which highlights the importance of our high health and safety standards.

Our technicians and engineers are a vital component of what Thames Water does. Our technicians are key figures on any site and often in the eye of the public. You will help with the day-to-day operation of our sewage treatment works. You will be a team player and be able to think on your feet and problem-solve. Those with a can-do attitude and who can work efficiently are paramount to what we require to enable us to provide exceptional service to our customers.
What skills are we looking for?
  • ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or C&G level 3 in Electrical engineering
  • A valid driving license is essential
  • Having previous experience in an electrical apprenticeship, with an 18th Edition qualification beneficial
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial
  • Be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems ideally working in a “true multi-skilled” capacity 
  • Be a self-motivated individual
  • Take Ownership of responding quickly to faults, being curious to fully comprehend the problem, and identifying the best solution to resolve it the first time
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to interact with the team
  • Deliver exceptional service through a passionate and positive approach, taking accountability for your role while working accurately and flexibly within a busy team
  • Be a team player – We are one team, and our end goals are the same
  • Proactive – take the lead on recommendations and improvements around the site and convey them effectively
