About The Role

This role is a key position within the business where you are responsible for coordinating, tracking, and reporting on a range of metering programmes. You will be tasked with highlighting issues relating to the regulatory meter data and related suite of assets as well as day-to-day management of regulatory meter data and be the main point of contact for any issues.

Your base location can be either our Deptford WTW, SE13 7RE, or Coppermills WTW, E17 7HE offices depending on your location.

This is a crucial role for metering and leakage and will provide the successful candidate with a day-to-day understanding of metering within the clean water network. In this role, you will provide support to various operational teams to understand problems, identify solutions and assist in their delivery. This is an exciting and crucial role, needed to manage critical network asset data to provide stakeholders with the best data to make informed business decisions. The role will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to work with and gain an understanding of several business areas offering a great step into the water industry.

Responsibilities

  • Identify faulty meters through weekly checks using Excel, Pi, and Scada or through a verification program.
  • Work with teams to identify opportunities to improve the accuracy and serviceability of meters.
  • Create work orders for the metering team to resolve issues and use websites to record progress.
  • Liaise with Network Optimisation Team, Leakage Optimisation Team, and Production Team to raise APS risks to request funding for replacement of meters.
  • Coordinate and track the progress of the regulatory meter verification program.
  • Create a Permit to Works for permission to carry out verifications on meters that are part of a production process.
  • Create work orders and liaise with the planning and scheduling team for ICA technicians to assist with process meter verifications and repairs.
  • React to site issues in the verification plan, form solutions, or escalate to relevant team managers to resolve and reduce the number of aborts.
  • Liaise with the planning team to arrange and coordinate Traffic management requirements with regulatory meter work.
  • Weekly update and distribution of action plans: Zonal meter, Critical Pressure points, Meter Verification, Greater than 5% tracker, Priority meter replacements.
  • Completion of weekly and monthly performance reports.

  • It is essential that the candidate possesses good analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills with a good understanding of personal time management.
  • Working as a strong team player to work co-operatively with others within different teams and stakeholders.
  • Extreme willingness to learn and work hard to drive their career within Thames Water.
  • Proven working experience and knowledge of the water and/or engineering industry.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Possess exceptional IT and administrative skills.
  • Confident working in a fast-paced environment as you will be dealing with a high volume of data and must have an eye for detail.
  • Previous experience in using the Pi system would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Strong coordination experience with the ability to export data across multiple systems and be able to identify and resolve problems quickly and successfully.
