About the role 

We have an excellent opportunity in the Aylesbury area for an Electrical Technician to work in our Wastewater Treatment team In Maintaining these assets ensures we help deliver life’s essential service to our customers, communities, and the environment so keeping pumps available and running is our primary goal. 

  • You will be working in a small team and on your own ensuring the assets on site remain in service This will involve routine maintenance and problem solving when things go wrong
  • Carrying out scheduled planned and reactive maintenance work on a variety of wastewater assets and industrial electrical machinery in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns 
  • You will investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents 
  • You will be expected to provide technical advice, referring to up to date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required  
  • Examples of equipment that you will be working on will be various pumps and associated control gear, 3 phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSDs, automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level, and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling and dosing equipment 
  • ·Participate in a stand-by rota following the relevant training

What we are looking for: 

  • 18th Edition electrical and City and Guilds certification is required
  • Ideally an apprenticeship with significant experience in electrical systems working in an industrial environment
  • Experience in inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosis, testing, installation, modifying, or repairing electrical plant equipment
  • Experience maintaining large pumps, actuated valves, electronic control systems such as VSD and 3 phase electrical switchgear is essential
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry
  • The work will require physical fitness
  • A full UK driving licence is essential 

What we are looking for:

  • ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or C&G level 3 in Electrical engineering
  • Qualification in mechanical NVQ 2/3 would also be beneficial although not essential
  • A valid driving license is essential
  • Having previous experience in an electrical apprenticeship, with an 18th Edition qualification is essential
  • Physically fit as you will work in confined spaces with successful completion of the appropriate training
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial
  • Be a time served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems ideally working in a “true multi-skilled” capacity
