What you’ll be doing:

The Technical Co-ordinator is an exciting predominately field-based role, working as part of the Field Operations team within Waste Pumping. You will be focused on maintaining and improving pumping station infrastructure, managing projects, and activities across a designated catchment, and providing support on larger scale projects.

You will be responsible for designing complex jobs (using SAP software) for work at our sewage pumping stations. You design jobs and build dependencies between tasks ensuring any prerequisites (materials, permits, and services) are in place to allow work to be completed by Field Technicians as scheduled.

You are also dedicated to designing, coordinating, and project managing technical jobs.  You will use your technical knowledge to ensure that Field Technicians have detailed instructions and the components needed to carry out scheduled jobs first time.

You will be located at the most convenient site office in the area for which you design jobs and coordinate prerequisites. You will work alongside the Field Operations Manager, developing a strong working relationship with field staff enabling you to continue to enhance your technical knowledge.

The role will also require good stakeholder engagement with external contractors to ensure work is delivered within budget and time.

Key role responsibilities include:

Technical experience and SAP usage:

  • Use expertise and electronic information captured from the field to design jobs
  • Obtain quotes, order materials, and 3rd party services
  • Coordinate any further prerequisites required (e.g. permits)
  • Create dependencies so that activities are carried out in the correct order
  • Standardise and optimise the way similar jobs are designed and executed
  • Use the risk-based system, APS, to highlight sites risks and produce heat maps
  • Monitor plant availability and repeat alarms

Communications and stakeholder management:

  • Develop strong collaborative relationships with Field Operations Specialists, Field Performance Managers across Operations, and parties within the Planning function
  • Provide field staff and 3rd parties with detailed work instructions
  • Provide expert advice on technical issues and solutions to risks
  • Attend regular Risk Review Meetings and Planning Meetings to provide updates on complex work
  • Arrange delivery of prerequisites where necessary to sites
  • Share best practice ways of working and learning points with colleagues

Health and Safety

  • Ensure all aspects of H&S are managed correctly, through SSOW approval, permitting, and site audits.

We’re looking for you to:

To be considered for this role you will be qualified to NVQ level 3, or equivalent, ideally specialised in the area of mechanical or electrical engineering.

Experience in technical job design and/or prerequisite management within a Water Utility is highly desirable.

A minimum of three years of experience in a process-related or utility industry is desirable together with a sound working knowledge of the safe systems of work required under the Health and Safety at Work Act.

IT literacy is essential as all work is managed through the new SAP system. User training for this and other standard software systems will be provided.

Your interpersonal skills will be highly developed, as will your ability to communicate across all levels.

You will also demonstrate a good business/ stakeholder awareness, together with an innovative and creative approach to problem-solving and strong team working and influencing skills.

A full current driving license is essential.
