Thames Water have a new and exciting opportunity for you to join the team as a LTT Network Controller (London Tideway Tunnels). Due to the construction of the Thames Tideway Tunnel which will be become part of the wastewater network in London when it is commissioning commences next year, we are seeking a wastewater hydraulic network modeller to own and maintain the strategic model upon which the London Tideway Tunnels is designed, and to support the London-wide network operations team ins day-to-day operations which are enabled by modelling.

We are looking to recruit an experienced wastewater network modeller into our London Tideway Tunnels System Operator Team. Your knowledge of wastewater networks and hydraulic modelling will become a key part of our operation and support the development of systems as we move towards commissioning, through commissioning and to business-as-usual operations, including support of regulatory reporting. On occasion you may be required to oversee external support on a specific project basis.
The system operator team is at the centre of commissioning and operation of the LTT and this role provides opportunities to support a wide variety of activities within wastewater operations. You will play a critical role in assessing the capability LTT to operate efficiently and safely in protecting the environment as well as protecting homes and infrastructure form flooding, and in enabling safe operations in and around the London wastewater network.
Not a direct requirement of the role but may be beneficial to have water quality modelling and river modelling.
Typical areas of responsibility include:
- Maintenance of hydraulic network models specific to the needs of the LTT
- Maintaining the Virtual Operating System for the operation of the LTT
- Working with large data sets - collection and analysis of network and operational data
- Interrogation, calibration, and verification of wastewater hydraulic models with reference to the LTT
- Production of information and reports which support the commissioning process and will be a regulatory requirement as soon as the LTT is commissioned
- Production of modelling reports to support safe access to the London sewer network by construction and operational teams
- Supporting optimisation of the LTT and related network system
- Become a key point of contact, collaborating with colleagues, and engaging with stakeholders to further our objectives. You will influence and inform colleagues and senior leadership on operational and investment decisions
- Delivering excellent customer service and continuous improvement
We are looking for the following skills and experience:
- Demonstrable knowledge in the use of hydraulic wastewater network models, preferably with previous experience in the use of ICM modelling software, as well as the ability to demonstrate an understanding of hydraulic principles is essential
- Experience of using applications of spatial rainfall in large catchments in real time desirable
- Knowledge of SCADA systems and ability to interrogate these
- You should be comfortable handling complex technical issues, whilst being able to communicate clearly and concisely with operational and planning colleagues
- Intermediate level of Microsoft Office and GIS is essential
