What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will primarily be responsible for all the commercial and/or operational aspects of the contracts allocated to you by your Manager. You will be provided a diverse portfolio of projects from working within our AMP7 programme within Operations Commercial. You will join one of our established and expanding Operations Commercial Teams and over the course of your career at Thames Water, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects ranging in value from £25k to £200M. Your key duties will include:

  • Ensuring your portfolio of contracts are contractually compliant and processes are in place
  • Identify any non-performance and implement corrective actions
  • Resolving general disputes and claims and providing advice and support to the business
  • Performing cost control via extensive auditing of supplier accounts
  • Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial & contractual risks
  • Preparing and analysing costings from received tenders or quotations
  • Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports
  • Valuing completed work and arranging payments using SAP or similar accounting software
  • Supplier account management involving analysis & processing of high volumes of data

  • £28,000 to £34,000 depending on skills, experience and location
  • Hybrid working – Can be based in the London area or Thames Valley
  • Required to attend ad hoc meetings and regular site attendance
  • 36 hours per week, Monday-Friday

What you should bring to the role

  • Hold a Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar
  • An enthusiastic attitude with the ability to take ownership of tasks, think on your feet, devise plans of action and deliver effective solutions
  • The ability to work semi-autonomously and be confident as well as professional at all times
  • An inquisitive mind and have meticulous attention to detail
  • The ability to hold your ground and offer reasoned advice in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent IT skills on MS office packages

You may also have an opportunity to become a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and you will work within a very successful structured APC training programme with the support network of several Chartered Quantity Surveyors, RICS APC assessors and colleagues studying to become MRICS and FRICS.
