About the role:
The Integrations Platform Services Team Manager will lead the Integration team, developing and managing operation of their platforms (Mulesoft / SAP CPI / MFT), encompassing strategic direction and roadmap, through development into in-life operational support and beyond.
A number of Platform Service Teams are being established to build internal competencies around strategic technologies and help Thames Water regain ownership of its technology strategy. The teams will build technical capability through systems and process, define and promote best practice for their platform, and ensure the relevant technical governance is understood and being followed.
The Platform Service Team Manager leads one of these (~10) Platform Services teams which have been conceived along standard ‘Centre of Excellence’ lines. For the systems and applications that the Platform Services team manages, they will operate a ‘run what we build’ model, implementing suitable DevOps practices.
The team will establish and execute a strategy for the platform, building, maintaining and supporting it through the full lifecycle of all technologies in use within the platform.
As well as delivering the platform roadmap to meet this strategy, the Platform Services team will provide skilled technical resources to work on approved project or product teams that consume or evolve the services that the platform provides.
What you’ll be doing
- Agree funding and re-charging mechanisms with Senior IT Team and Finance
- Ensure that KPIs agreed with Senior IT Team and have processes in place for information capture and measurement
- Ensure that all integration team members have appropriate leadership and objectives
- Ensure that people management by team leaders follows Thames Water standards and that the team leaders are well managed
- Work with other IT teams and the Senior Management Team to agree on organisation change and transition steps and maintain plans to implement them
- Create and manage ongoing communications plan to ensure that IT teams understand the operation and engagement model for Integration
- Maintain appropriate stakeholder plans and ensure that potential conflicts and issues are managed
- Ensure that the teams are enabled to provide day to day services to a high quality and are also able to look to the future and establish a strategic direction
- Ensure that the organisation design adapts to fit the overall IT strategy and that job descriptions and objectives are adapted in good time for each member of the Integration Team.
- Engage regularly with the Platform Architecture team so that suitable tools and systems are provided that meet the operational requirements of the Integration Team
- Provide regular reporting to stakeholders
- Ensure that the Integration Strategy includes a decommissioning plan and full lifecycle for all Integration technologies in use
What you should bring to the role
- Educated to degree level (BSc) or equivalent
- Significant Team and Supplier Management experience
- Demonstrable experience managing an Integrations team
- Significant experience as a Technical, Product, Solution Architect or System Design Authority or Development Manager
- Experience of working with different IT delivery approaches (waterfall, agile etc.)
- Experience in working with 3rd party technology partners
- Significant years practical IT technical delivery experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills and is fully experienced at dealing with diverse and senior stakeholders sets
- Proficient and effective communicator
- Ability to explain complex problems in a simple and effective manner
- Experience in building Digital environments
- Proficient in the following disciplines: solution architecture, process improvement, stakeholder analysis, business proposals and cost management, supplier relationship management
- Mulesoft, SAP CPI and Manage File Transfer tools experience would be an advantage.
