What does this role involve?

We are seeking a motivated people and process manager to lead and develop a team of multi-skilled Thermal hydrolysis Process (THP) Technicians. You will drive their personal performance and improve overall engagement, whilst managing in line with established HR policies & processes. Increasing asset availability and performance within strict quality targets is key to the success of this role and will be achieved with a strong health & safety focus.

What makes the role unique?

No one day is the same for our Performance Manager’s which gives a fantastic opportunity to apply their attributes to a front line management role in Operations. This is a challenging role and gives the successful person a great opportunity to make improvements and make a name for themselves.

You will be responsible for?

  • Managing a budget of up to £2m, ensuring planned & reactive maintenance is carried out in a timely and efficient manner, and that processes are optimised to maximise the production of green energy from our THP, anaerobic digesters and combined heat and power engines.
  • Health and safety – you will effectively lead the health and safety culture of the team as well as auditing health and safety systems & processes.
  • Performance management – you will be responsible for ensuring the team achieve optimal performance and you will be responsible for developing the team’s process knowledge & introducing new skills & health & safety awareness.
  • Process management – ensuring the THP achieves & maintains its required plant availability and reliability in order to meet quality targets at the agreed cost. 
  • Financial management – owning and managing the budgetary and financial activities of the team and driving efficiencies into the overall operational budget.
  • Customer & stakeholder management - ensuring an exceptional service to our customers with early personal interventions as required.

What skills are we looking for?

  • An experienced people-manager with a proven track record of engaging & developing teams; ideally with site-based industrial or municipal process teams.
  • Ability to the lead and achieve results in a difficult environment with a strong focus on, and good working knowledge of, health and safety.
  • Experience of managing an operational budget with a structured and proactive approach. 
  • A good communicator and be competent in using IT equipment/systems and be able to interpret complex Excel spreadsheets.
  • Due to the nature of this role a full valid driving licence is needed.
  • Qualifications should include an engineering HNC/HND or equivalent.
  •  BOAS and/or WAMITAB qualifications will be beneficial but training will be given to the right candidate.
