About The Role

We currently have an opportunity for a Process Control Engineer to work out of our Rye Meads  Sewage Treatment Works. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the overall operation of the Sewage Treatment Works, working as part of a team of Process Controllers, to ensure the effective and continuous operation of the works (24/7).

As the Process Control Engineer, you will find that no working day is the same. This will provide a very interesting, challenging, and rewarding working environment. You will also be working at one of the biggest sewage treatments works in UK and will receive full training and support for the Health & Safety, technical and process requirements related to the plant.

Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to workdays and nights on a rotational shift pattern.

Responsibilities

  • Control the overall operation of the Works processes, plant, and equipment
  • Monitoring, collating and reporting of data to ensure that statutory and regulatory compliance is met, and the works meet regulatory quality standards and customer demand.
  • Process fault finding and suitable rectification by the first fix, raising issues to maintenance scheduler or team leader as required. 
  • Assist with on-site capital project works, coordinate maintenance and operational personnel raising reactive work when required, and maximise financial benefits from power generation plant.
  • Undertake safety and security checks.
  • Take personal responsibility for the health and safety of self and colleagues.

What we are looking for:

  • A minimum of GCSE level Maths and English or equivalent
  • Technical C&G or HNC desirable.
  • Completion of NVQ level 2 units, BTEC or equivalent experience
  • Prepared to be trained in safety procedures 
  • Significant experience in a relevant industry and with experience managing or controlling the relevant treatment processes
  • Ability to work unsupervised on 12-hour shifts, day or night
  • Fully competent at using the appropriate Company IT systems and Office software
  • Previous experience with SCADA systems would be an advantage
